There is also plenty to see and do away from the competitions and sports venues. From January 16 to 18, 2026, Oberhof's town square will be transformed into a winter market, inviting visitors to stroll around and browse the stalls of regional traders. Emotions will run high at the grand opening ceremony on Friday, January 16, 2026: The warm-up will start at 6 p.m., and at 7 p.m. athletes from all nations will enter the ceremony, rounded off by an impressive fire show. On Saturday, January 17, 2026, the grand award ceremony will follow at 7:30 p.m. (warm-up from 6:30 p.m.). The festival tent invites you to end the evenings in a festive atmosphere.
